For car sales staff
A digital business card for car sales staff
The purchase cycle is measured in years, and the job is being the name a buyer remembers when it comes round again. That is a long time for a card in a glovebox to stay correct.
You move dealership faster than they change car
A buyer keeps you three or four years, which is more than long enough for you to move to a different site or a different franchise. When they are ready, the number they kept puts them through to a showroom where somebody else answers, and that somebody else sells them the car. The relationship you built was real, and the only thing that broke was the phone number attached to it.
At handover, with the keys in your hand
Handover is the high point of the whole transaction. The car is cleaned, the buyer is pleased, and they are listening to you properly for the last time in years. A code on the key fob tag or inside the service pack gets scanned right then, and your name is saved in their phone while they still associate it with a good day.
What it does for car sales staff
Keep the customer when you change site
Edit the dealership, the franchise and your direct number. The buyer who saved you three years ago reaches you now, rather than the switchboard of somewhere you have left.
The code goes where the car goes
Put it on the key tag, in the service pack or on a forecourt windscreen board. People read those long after the sale, and a board gets scanned by someone looking at a car out of hours.
Take a part exchange enquiry properly
Turn on the form with a message field and a buyer can say what they are driving now and what they are after. It reaches you by email with their own address as the reply address.
See whether the forecourt board earns its space
Scan and view counts, with the date of the most recent one, show whether a board on a particular car is being used at all. That is hard to know about anything printed.
Questions car sales staff ask
- Should the card be mine or the dealership’s?
- Yours, with the dealership named on it. Buyers remember a person, and the point of an editable card is that the dealership on it can change without the customer losing you.
- Can I put the code on a windscreen board?
- Yes. Print it large, because it will be scanned from the pavement and through glass at an angle. Point it at your card rather than at one vehicle, so the board stays correct once that car sells.
- Does this replace the dealer CRM?
- No. It collects enquiries and gives you a CSV export, and it can post each one to another system by webhook. Anything to do with stock, finance or deal files stays where it is.
