For event and trade show staff
A digital business card for event and trade show staff
On a stand, the cost of a card is measured in seconds. You are talking to one visitor while four more wait, and the thing you hand over has to work without you explaining it.
A stand runs on volume, and paper does not scale
Boxes of cards run out on day two. Staff who rotate through a shift each carry a different stack, and a visitor who talked to three of you leaves with three cards and no idea which conversation belongs to which. The cards you did hand out give you nothing back, so the real lead list is whatever people wrote on a clipboard at the end of the day.
At the counter, with a queue behind them
Put one code on the counter, the banner and the lanyard. A visitor scans it without breaking the conversation, saves the contact, and fills in the short form if they want a follow up. You never stop talking to the next person to find a pen.
What it does for event and trade show staff
One code for the whole stand
Print a single code on the banner and the counter card. It points at a card page you control, so every member of staff shares the same link rather than each holding a different stack.
Leads arrive while the show is still on
Each visitor who sends their details produces an email with their address as the reply address. You can answer the same evening, while they still remember your stand.
Straight into the CRM, or out as a file
Every contact can be posted to a URL you choose as JSON, and every contact can be exported as a CSV. Hand the file to whoever owns the follow up.
Change the pitch between shows
Edit what the card says and where it points for the next event. The banners you already printed keep working, so a reusable stand does not mean a reprinted stand.
Questions event and trade show staff ask
- What if the venue has poor signal?
- The visitor needs a connection to open the card page, so exhibition halls with weak mobile coverage are a real risk. Ask the organiser whether the venue wifi is open, and put the wifi details beside the code if it is.
- Can several staff share one card?
- Yes, if the card is the company or stand rather than a person. A visitor who scans it reaches the same page whoever they spoke to, and the notification emails go to the address you set.
- How big should the code on a banner be?
- Larger than seems sensible. People scan from a step or two away while a crowd moves past, so print it at least as large as your hand and keep clear white space around it.
