For tradespeople
A digital business card for tradespeople
Most of your work comes from someone passing your number on. The easier that is to do, and the harder it is to get wrong, the more of it happens.
A number written down wrong is a job lost
A neighbour recommends you and reads your number out from memory or a photo of a van. One wrong digit and the call never arrives, and you never find out it was meant to.
On the van, the quote and the invoice
A code where people already look means they do not have to write anything down. They scan, your number saves to their phone correctly, and it is still there next time something breaks.
What it does for tradespeople
They save your number, correctly
A contact file goes into their phone with the right spelling and the right number, instead of being retyped from a photograph.
One code, however your details change
New number, new van, new trading name. Edit the card and the code on everything you have already printed still reaches you.
Let them describe the job
Turn on the form with a message field and an enquiry arrives with what needs doing and where, which is enough to decide whether to call back.
Point at proof
Link to photos of finished work or a reviews page, so the person deciding has something to look at beyond a number.
Questions tradespeople ask
- Will it work on a van in the rain?
- That is about the sticker rather than the code. Any phone camera reads it if it is clean, large enough and not curved too sharply. Print it bigger than feels necessary: it will be scanned from further away than you think.
- Do I need a website first?
- No. For a lot of trades the card is the whole web presence: number, what you do, area covered and a way to send a job through.
- Can I change my number later?
- Yes, and that is the point. The stickers, quotes and invoices already out there keep working.
