Essential

Slate

Slate is grey with the corners squared off and the photo set beside the name rather than above it. The square corners are what separate it from Classic: the same restraint, but it reads as deliberate rather than default.

Who it suits

• Engineering, manufacturing and operations
• Anyone who finds rounded corners too soft for their work
• People who want more above the fold on a phone

What to pair with it

A square-cropped photo, which the layout already expects, and a wordmark rather than a symbol.

When to pick something else

Your work is warm and people-facing. Grey and square is credible and cool, and a coach or a therapist is better served by Sage or Bone.
